I am a screenwriter and film director drawn to exploring vulnerable, flawed characters navigating personal and emotional turmoil. Growing up as a second-generation Indian-American in a tight-knit New Jersey town, I witnessed how people often repressed or avoided their struggles to maintain the status quo of their lives. Through my work, I aim to uncover the inner conflicts that define the human experience, crafting dramas that blend psychological depth and cultural origins with genre storytelling. By portraying the turmoil beneath the surface of people’s lives authentically, I hope to help people recognize and confront it within themselves.
As a recent graduate of USC’s Film & TV Production Masters Program, I wrote and directed over five short films, culminating in my thesis film–Aura. A portrait of a failed Indian-American concert pianist, Aura explores how past anxiety and failure shape one’s present sense of self. In addition, I produced the student documentary Held At Gunpoint, which was longlisted for the Yugo BAFTA Student Awards. I also led the USC Media Institute of Social Change’s StoryLab, bringing together storytellers from various disciplines to develop multimedia projects, primarily feature film scripts, in a writers’ room-style workshop.
